CryptoEats was a startup that promised to revolutionize the delivery of food at home with a model similar to that of UberEats. The big difference is that CryptoEats would allow making payments with its native token called EATS and with other cryptocurrencies.
The company vanished in 30 minutes
At the launch of the token they claimed to have the backing of several investors, and everything seemed legitimate. However, 30 minutes after the first token sale, the company disappeared without a trace, taking in the process almost 500,000 euros. The company assured in a press release that they had raised $ 8 million in the first round of financing, in addition to already having agreements in place with large companies such as McDonald’s for its launch.
In fact, the press releases were issued through Yahoo! Finance or GlobeNewswire, giving it an air of legitimacy. However, press releases related to the company have completely disappeared without a trace. In those notes they promised to take a significant slice of the $ 16.6 billion in which the food delivery sector is valued with companies such as Uber Eats, Glovo or Deliveroo. They also promised to become a first step in bringing the real world closer to the world of cryptocurrencies.
Among the promotions, in addition to the press releases that were replicated by a multitude of media, there were collaborations with influencers. Among them, the DJ Charlie Sloth, with a million followers, promoted the company and its app. The tiktoker hstikkytokky recommended the company and the launch of the token to its almost 400,000 followers. They also held a party in London, where there were bicycles and uniforms with the CryptoEats logo, giving a greater air of legitimacy and confidence to invest.
Its creator is in search and capture
Unfortunately, everything was false and the company has vanished, including its web and social networks. The one who has also disappeared without a trace is the architect of this scam. The supposed founder, Wade phillips, does not exist, as it was a false name. The search is being carried out by Scotland Yard, but they are having a difficult time because they have no trace to follow. It is a perfectly orchestrated robbery where they have gone through all the steps to look like a legitimate company.
In the only photo of the supposed CEO, distributed in the press release, a man between 35 and 45 years old is seen with pasta glasses smiling while holding a glass of coffee, and with the binance logo behind. Nobody knows where it came from or who the one in the photo is.
The only trace is a Blockchain address where the CryptoEats developers transferred all tokens to 1,140 Binance Coin (BNB), equivalent to about 475,000 euros. Now, those who bought the EATS Coin token cannot use the decentralized exchange system PancakeSwap.
