One of the most interesting features of macOS Monterey seems to be closer than ever.
In the last WWDC 2021, we had the opportunity to know the great software updates that would arrive on our devices months later. Just a few weeks ago, for example, we saw the launch of some of them, such as iOS 15. However, there are still updates and features to be released. And we may have to wait longer than necessary in some cases.
The next big macOS update will be macOS Monterey, a new version that seeks to polish the great changes that came with Big Sur. This is especially important for Macs that have Apple Silicon, since Big Sur was the first update to support them. In addition, it also brings with it some really interesting features, among which Universal Control stands out.
In an attempt to further strengthen the ties between devices and to increase the strength of the Apple ecosystem, Universal Control offers the ability to control multiple Macs or iPads from a single device. It even offers the ability to transfer files by simply dragging them from one screen to another. All this, just by bringing a compatible Mac closer to another Mac or an iPad.
Unfortunately, it appears that Apple is having some difficulty getting it to macOS in time. In fact, it is still necessary to force its activation manually to be able to use it in beta builds. However, it is possible that the company is already preparing to activate it officially for the Monterey launch, since Universal Control’s own settings, which still have to be activated manually, now mark the function as beta, as shown. on MacRumors.
Of course, it seems that Apple wants to make it clear that there is still work to be done to achieve that attractive experience they showed at WWDC. We’ll see if this warning has been created specifically for when users get hold of the new system, which could be released in next week’s keynote, or for upcoming developer betas.
