Mexico is the first country where Amber Alerts will be broadcast on Facebook to find missing children.
In order to help locate missing children, Facebook announced its new tool for the dissemination of AMBER Alert in Mexico, as part of the program created in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office.
Thus, when the PGR issue an AMBER Alert, the information will be shared with users of Facebook in the area where it disappeared or was seen the child. It should be noted that thanks to the implementation of the Alerts, from 2012 to date more than 350 minors reported missing have been found.
On the importance of collaborative work between the social network and the PGR, Emily Vacher, Director of Security at Facebook, indicated:? We know that when a child disappears, it is best to spread the information to people as quickly as possible. The AMBER Alerts on Facebook help reunite children with their families, putting the right information in the hands of the right people at the right time ?.
Starting today, Facebook launches the AMBER Alert on its platform and will reach more than 65 million users in Mexico. ? I am convinced that it will be a before and after in how AMBER Alert spreads in our country: becoming increasingly digital, using networks for citizens and moving Mexico towards a more digital Mexico ?, said Alejandra Lagunes, Director of Strategy National Digital.
