- Sky launches new campaign to help reduce the effects of climate change
- With this initiative, Sky joins other companies such as Apple, General Motors and many more, which have focused on climate change for their campaigns
- Sky invites you to know Sky Zero, a new brand that invites people to make decisions to save the planet
Sky, the European media company owned by Comcast, is launching a new brand, Sky Zero, to help reduce the effects of climate change.
More and more brands and / or companies are developing campaigns to talk about the importance of climate change and caring for the planet. It is not something new, although it does not stop drawing attention, especially in times as chaotic as the ones we are currently living.
Since the 1980s – if not before – the issue of caring for the environment has become one of the most important for governments, the media, advertising and / or marketing campaigns and even society itself.
The arrival of the pandemic brought, among other things, greater concern about the effects of climate change, calling for stronger and more concrete actions for the benefit of society worldwide.
Thus, within this series of initiatives that have been launched, even before the emergence of Covid-19, important companies such as General Motors, Apple, among many others, have dedicated themselves to launching campaigns about the importance of caring for the environment. environment.
Similarly, a few days ago, Sky, the European media company, is also joining the trend with the launch of Sky Zero, a new brand that comes with an important advertising campaign with which it invites people to make decisions. to save the planet.
The ad, created in conjunction with the Engine Creative agency, is inspired by the “overview effect,” a term used by astronauts when they first see Earth from space.
Through a statement collected by Adweek, Jodie Alliss, Head of Environmental Campaigns at Sky Zero, spoke about the importance of this campaign:
“The moon has watched over Earth since long before everything started. We thought that there was no better character to visit our house and remind us of the wonder it contains. But also, to highlight the uncomfortable truth that climate change is having a devastating impact on the things we love. Fortunately, we still have a chance to save it and here at Sky we want to inspire people to join us on our zero carbon journey. “
Undoubtedly, awareness campaigns on climate change are interesting and important, especially in times when the environment is making, in its own way, a wake-up call to the whole world.
Human activity has had serious effects on accelerating global warming and environmental damage, activities such as the way we travel and move every day, the eating habits we carry out day by day, the energy we consume , among others.
Although in 2020, after the arrival of global confinement, there was a reduction of 17 percent in terms of the emission of carbon gases, the truth is that stronger actions still need to be taken for the future.
And that is what, in some way, brands are taking into account in their campaigns on climate change, although we must not forget that, to a large extent, it is the same companies and their practices that are responsible for the acceleration of global warming.
