During the last days the fans have turned completely to play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomone of the most anticipated titles of the last 7 years for the Nintendo Switch.
In the end we have verified that the console is at the top of its hardware capacity but the creativity of the team behind the game has shown that this can become a secondary factor if you have enough imagination.
The title throughout these days after its official launch has been finished by more than one gamer obsessed, but a fair number of other fans have been amused by the side quests and the wide variety of adventures it offers.
The catch here is that some others have already started to wonder where exactly this game is located and what place it occupies within the canon of the official Hyrule timeline.
The answer is neither simple nor satisfactory. But here we will try to solve that mysterious doubt.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom and the mystery of its official timeline
Basically, there is an official timeline for the Zelda saga that does not follow the same chronological order of the games. In fact, there are generally a series of eras.
Each of these eras is made up of different titles from the various official Nintendo platforms (the Phillips CD-i does not count) and more or less marks the actual order of the saga. The eras are basically four and their chronological order would be this:
- The Legend of the Goddesses and the Hero
- The Twilight Realm and the Hero’s Legacy (The Hero is Triumphant — Child)
- The Hero of the Winds and a New World (The Hero is Triumphant | Adult)
- The decline of Hyrule and the last hero (The Hero is Defeated)
According to what is known from the official canon, this would be the list of games for each of the eras:
The Legend of the Goddesses and the Hero
- Skyward Sword
- The Minish Cap
- Four Swords
- Ocarina of Time
The Twilight Realm and the Hero’s Legacy (The Hero is Triumphant — Child)
- Majora’s Mask
- twilight princess
- Four Swords Adventures
The Hero of the Winds and a New World (The Hero is Triumphant | Adult)
- The Wind Waker
- Phantom Hourglass
- Spirit Tracks
The decline of Hyrule and the last hero (The Hero is Defeated)
- A Link to the Past
- Oracle of Ages / Seasons
- Link’s Awakening
- A Link Between Worlds
- Tri-Force Heroes
- Legend of Zelda
- The Adventure of Link
So between this line and the events of the last few games, the most obvious guess is that these adventures take place at the end of the last era or, failing that, they represent the first two titles of a new era that has not yet been officially confirmed.
