Although I know that many have chosen to install ad blockers or other alternatives to watch YouTube without restrictions, I admit that it is not my home. However, for a couple of years, the advertising of the platform has grown exponentially, being almost impossible to see a video without its ad rigor. In addition, ads that cannot be skipped They came to stay, but really, that’s not my complaint.
Ads that hide scams and run freely
There have been several announcements of this type that have appeared to me in recent months. The cryptocurrency boom, which seem to want to regain record highs, and interest in the stock market (trading, etc.) has been the perfect breeding ground for its proliferation. Surely some of you have come across similar ads in which several things coincide:
- They promise to earn us money
- They swear to us that they are not a scam or scam (Excusatio non petita, accusatio manifes)
- They have discovered a secret method or algorithm
- They are excessively long (although there are short ones)
- They use hooks from big companies like Amazon
Although we can find cryptocurrency and trading ads that can be perfectly legal, the truth is that those that meet the above parameters they smell like scam from miles away. As I have already mentioned, in recent times a growing number of them have appeared to me, even reaching a duration of 14 minutes.
The video that I attach in the previous capture fulfills all of the above. It talks about how we can “make money”, that they have a winning algorithm and that we are not going to put our capital at risk. In the video, with a computer-generated locution, they tell us everything a novice investor wants to hear.
However, nothing could be further from the truth. I know perfectly well that it is a hoax, but still I decide to click on the link to see what happens. This brings us to a web with a more than dubious design which of course has no HTTPS security certificate.
On this website they tell us that “we access before the private invitation expires” and they ask us to enter a series of data such as Name, Surname, Email, Telephone number or Country. By entering our data, false of course, we enter a private zone in which we can supposedly invest and trade. The deposit button appears in the upper area. If it occurs to us to send our money, we can start saying goodbye.
The private platform we access is from ElComercio24, a CFD, Forex and cryptocurrency broker located in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, although it is more than likely that this information is false. Only with this information, we should already run away.
YouTube, a little bit of please
We know that platforms such as YouTube, dependent on Google, greatly ensure the quality of their ads since it is their main means of income. However, it is inconceivable that 14-minute ads are allowed to companies or users without any reputation.
I think these ads should be much more regulated and controlled. In addition, those who touch on topics that can trigger money losses, such as trading or cryptocurrencies, should carry special warnings in the same way that it is done with content related to vaccines.
