The OnePlus 8T will be the company’s next high-end device for 2020. It is expected to debut sometime in October and arrive on its own. No, this year there will be no OnePlus 8T Pro. The new OnePlus 8T is a rather peculiar terminal, as it comes with a flat screen and some more advanced features than the OnePlus 8. Today we have to talk about the price, because it is a detail that you probably do not like too much if you were thinking of buying this device. This OnePlus 8T will be more expensive than the OnePlus 8.
The OnePlus 8T will be 100 euros / dollars more expensive than the OnePlus 8
So far we knew that the OnePlus 8T would keep the processor, memory chips and many of the details that made it to the OnePlus 8. It will remove the curved screen and is expected to get minor changes to the rear camera. Also, your panel will have a refresh rate of 120 Hz and not 90 Hz.
This last change is the most significant along with the flat screen. Speculating on the price we could expect the company to keep the price of the OnePlus 8 to make it much more attractive, but this will not be the case. Mounting a 120Hz screen is slightly more expensive, but a flat screen can balance the costs.
Today we know that the OnePlus 8T will cost, almost certainly, 799 euros / dollars in its version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage . To opt for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage you will have to pay 899 euros . They are high-end prices, but taking a look at the current device we realize that it has increased its price considerably.
What will OnePlus offer to justify this price increase?
The device has not been presented yet, but we can already know some of the characteristics that could differentiate it from the current OnePlus 8. There will not only be changes to the screen, but also to other important components. This is the list of expected changes:
- Curved screen> flat screen
- 90 Hz panel> 120 Hz panel
- 16 MP front camera> 32 MP front camera
- UFS 3.0 storage> UFS 3.1 storage
- 4,300 mAh battery> 4,500 mAh battery
- 30W fast charge> 65W fast charge
- Android 10> Android 11
These are the main differences between one device and another. The design is expected to be fairly similar, albeit with changes to the location of the rear camera. On paper they are interesting changes, but the reality is that many of the components do not have a very large price difference.
Does everything together justify 100 euros/dollars more in the final price? We think not too much, but we will have to wait for OnePlus to present the complete device and tell us all the final news. We may miss one or the price leak we are talking about is not entirely true.
What do you think of the price of the OnePlus 8T? Do you think the price increase is justified?
