Orange has the LiveBox 6, while Vodafone has the WiFi 6 Station. Other operators, such as MásMóvil or Yoigo are betting on Comtrend or ZTE routers for their fiber connections, while Movistar still offers the HGU while waiting for the arrival of the xHGU, which is going to improve everything on the routers of the competition.
Although Movistar was the first operator in Spain to announce a router with WiFi 6, the operator has not yet launched the xHGU, which will probably follow the same current naming scheme and will be better known as Movistar’s Smart WiFi 6 Router. The Smart WiFi 6 Amplifier will be a great addition, and now we can buy it again.
The stock of the WiFi 6 Amplifier is back
This was announced by Movistar on its Twitter account, after there was hardly any stock of the repeater during 2021 due to the shortage of chips that affects the whole world.
The Smart WiFi 6 Amplifier is here again! 💥 Improve connectivity in your #HogarMovistar with superior speed and coverage. Connect more devices simultaneously. Flying! ⚡️

The price of the repeater is somewhat high compared to other devices that we find in the market, but in return we have one of the best repeaters that we can buy today. It has a speed 5 times higher and up to a 30% more coverage thanks to WiFi 6 and the improvements that this standard implements. At the same time, it also offers up to 4 times more WiFi traffic capacity to be able to have more devices connected at the same time.
How to configure the Movistar amplifier
The amplifier also offers the latest safety enhancements by being WPA3 compliant. Configuring it is really simple, since we only have to connect it to the main router via Ethernet, and it will already detect the configuration, with the same network name and the same WiFi password. From there, we can disconnect it and it will proceed to act as an amplifier. We can also use it as a repeater connected via Ethernet to the main router. In all cases we can handle it from the Smart WiFi App.
Its price is 129 euros in its self-installing version, with 7.30 euros of shipping costs. If we need installation, the price rises to 179 euros, although in that case the shipping costs are free. It’s purchasable in this link. We remember that more amplifiers can be added to our WiFi network, so we can have more than one at home if we have one with several floors that does not reach the coverage well or if it is a too large apartment.
