Xiaomi has prepared a presentation for tomorrow, September 15, but it has not been able to wait another second to show its smart glasses, the Xiaomi Smart Glasses. At the moment, they are more of a concept product than something that can be bought in the near future.
The Xiaomi Smart Glasses are smart glasses independent of the mobile with which you can make calls, consult notifications, take photos and turn-by-turn navigation with the help of the MicroLED screen integrated in one of its lenses.
Xiaomi’s first smart glasses
Xiaomi has just presented its first prototype of smart glasses, the Xiaomi Smart Glasses, a concept of smart glasses more like Google Glass than the latest Rayban Stories from Facebook. They are glasses independent of the phone that combine in their compact design and 51 grams of weight 497 components.
The jewel in the crown is the screen, integrated into one of the lenses and with a diagonal of just 0.13 inches. Is a monochrome MicroLED display, which displays the information superimposed in green. The screen has dimensions of 2.4 x 2.02 mm, although the sensation for those who wear the glasses is of a much greater projection. The maximum screen brightness reaches 2 million nits.
Of course, Xiaomi emphasizes that it is not a simple second screen for the mobile, but a totally independent device, with its own sensors, including at least camera, speaker and microphone, with a quad-core ARM processor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and Android as an operating system.
Among its applications, Xiaomi highlights four main pillars: calls, view content, navigation and camera. All of this is based on a simplified, monochrome interface. Apparently, the interaction with the glasses is done by tapping the temples, thus allowing you to decide whether or not you want to accept an incoming call or not.
With the Xiaomi Smart Glasses you can receive notifications directly on the glasses, take photos with the built-in camera 5 megapixels and get routes with augmented reality. Other functions that Xiaomi highlights is the possibility of translating texts or transcribing audio to text in real time.
Xiaomi describes its Smart Glasses as the “engineering vision of an advanced future”, which means that it is a prototype that may or may not end up materializing. At the moment, no news about its possible manufacture.
