Amagi, used by other free channel platforms

Amagi will not only be responsible for the distribution of linear content, but will also manage “content on demand”, which means that Xiaomi could also offer viewable content whenever the user wants. The company is able to offer up to 1,000 live channels for each company.

The Amagi service is used by companies such as ABS-CBN, A + E Networks UK, beIN Sports, CuriosityStream, Discovery Networks, Fox Networks, Fremantle, NBCUniversal, Tastemade, Tegna, USA Today, Vice Media and WarnerMedia. In addition to those companies, it is also the one that uses Samsung TV Plus, Hulu, Twitch, Rakuten TV and more, so it was clear that it was the best option. Amagi has monetization tools such as Amagi Thunderstrom, in addition to Ads Plus, both to monetize and display digital ads in the content that users see.

Xiaomi’s new streaming service would be available, in principle, through the Patchwall interface that Xiaomi integrates into its televisions. This interface is the alternative to Android TV, where the company offers direct access to both from the remote so that the user can decide which one they prefer to use. With Patchwall we have better integrated things, such as quick access to personalized content, the file reader or the devices that we have connected by HDMI.

Xiaomi has not announced the platform yet

The announcement was made by Amagi herself, focusing mainly on the technical aspects from service. Xiaomi has not yet spoken, so the most important part for the consumer is still unknown. We will probably have to wait a few days to know all the details of this streaming service.

At the moment it is confirmed that the service will come to Smart TV of the company, but it remains to be seen if it will also be available for devices such as mobiles or tablets. In them, it is easy to obtain the APK of the service and view the channels on other non-Xiaomi devices.
