Xiaomi seems to be changing its export policies. Although, previously it only “prohibited” the sale of its smartphones in some countries such as Cuba, now it is blocking via software some of the devices that have already been sold.
As we can read through Reddit, Xiaomi has begun to block some of its latest smartphones that are in Cuban territory. The same is true for the inhabitants of Syria, which have begun to receive a message on their smartphones that makes it impossible for them to use the device.
Xiaomi prohibits the sale of its smartphones in up to five countries
If we go into the Xiaomi terms and conditions published on its website We will be able to see how the company declares that its clients will not be able to export any Product purchased to countries and territories such as Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan and the Crimea region.
Well, in addition to that, Xiaomi has begun to block some of the mobile devices found in these territories, showing on the screen messages like the one we can see on these lines and that include «This device is locked«.
For the moment It is unknown if they are only isolated cases or if Xiaomi will begin to block all devices found in these regions, especially in Cuba where a large number of the population has a company mobile phone.
