Last Tuesday the scriptwriter of X-Men, Jonathan Hickman, confirmed in Entertainment Weekly He will not continue to work on new Mutant titles, but will continue to be linked to Marvel comics.

Plan future projects
Marvel is not paying me to write only monthly books, I am expected to write larger books that have a greater reach.Hickman said. In an effort to facilitate both, we’ve all spent the last six months or so reorienting the line, myself creating Inferno to help with that, and then bringing in some new writers to add to the existing team, and then planning for the next few years of books. X.
Early next year, the line X Men of Marvel comics expands with a new weekly title.
Hickman continued: So after Inferno, I’ll be leaving to go work on my ‘Next Big Marvel Thing ™’ and starting in January the X line will skyrocket forward starting with a weekly series leading to the very fresh and refocused line of books. Yes, it took us a bit of time to put everything together correctly, but the end result – everything that comes after Inferno – is going to be pretty big..
As Hickman mentions during the interview, is set to move away from the line of X Men after the conclusion of Infernoas he directs his attention to his next big Marvel project. Hickman has been at the forefront of House of Ideas’ mutant-focused production for several years, having spearheaded the relaunch initiative of Dawn of X in 2019.
Although it will not continue in the X-Men comics, it will continue in Marvel Comics. The direction of the mutant titles should begin to take shape in January 2022.
