Today, it was the turn of Marvel at the San Diego Comic-Con panel, and there Marvel Studios finally revealed the first look at X Men ’97the upcoming revival of the 1990s X-Men animated classic, released earlier this week, this series picks up where the original series left off. X-Men: The Animated Serieswith Magneto now leading the X-Men after Professor X left for Shi’ar space in the series finale of the original show.
Nows, the series revealed a first preview, as well as confirmed that Bishop, Morph, Cable, Forge, Nightcrawler, and Sunspot will appear on the show as allies, with Emma Frost, Sinister, Sebastian Shaw, and Callisto.
Now, several cast members from that original show are returning for the new Marvel Studios show, including Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Alison Sealy-Smith, Chris Potter, Catherine Disher, Adrian Hough and Christopher Britton, as well as Some of these voice actors will reprise their original roles, while others will take on new roles in X-Men ’97.
Additionally, the series will also add some new members to the voice cast, including Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio:
“This is the first X-Men title produced by Marvel Studios”said Brad Winderbaum. “What an incredible first step in reintroducing audiences to the X-Men with a look at one of the most important eras of X-Men comics, which was the 1990s.”
“That iconic style that is rooted in Chris Claremont, and is celebrated in Jim Lee, and then again in The Animated Series Over the years, as we meet with so many filmmakers who have come to feature us on various projects, the touchstone we hear over and over again is X-Men: The Animated Series.”
“As an animated show, the original X-Men was the precursor to some amazing action series,” adds Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, vice president of animation at Marvel Studios. “Everyone who’s making X-Men ’97, from top to bottom, is a fan. Beau DeMayo will be the head writer and executive producer of X-Men ’97, while Jake Castorena is the supervising director and Charley Feldman is the supervising producer.
