Wrestling fans have been keeping an eye out for Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE and his performance at WrestleMania, but all of it also included a fun reference to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time that Zelda fans will have noticed.
At the start of the WrestleMania 38 match between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, WWE commentator Corey Graves dropped a reference to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time quoting him directly. “The flow of time is always cruel,” said Graves. “And one thing that doesn’t change over time is just a memory of younger days.”
fans of Ocarina of Time you’ll recognize this as a famous quote said by Sheik during the game. This served to acknowledge the fact that Cody Rhodes had been out of WWE for a long period of time, as well as to reference Rhodes’ affinity with the Zelda franchise.
Cody Rhodes has spoken of his love for The Legend of Zelda series on multiple occasions, most notably The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Rhodes has gone so far as to customize his ring gear to include references to Zelda, such as having a Tri-Force on his boots.
