The launch of the second edition of the Atlantic, the Atlantic Influence Wines Contest, has just been announced, a contest that aims to highlight the value of wines with their own identity, which lately are supplying some of the biggest surprises on the wine scene.

The first two days V11 and 12 September— will be aimed at the general public, during the weekend, with a proposal that includes tastings, immersive visits to wineries and various activities all related to wine. The next two days – days 13 and 14 – will be the turn of the professionals. The jury in charge of the blind tasting of the samples presented will meet in the cloister of the Parador Monasterio de Corias, and throughout the last day the best Atlantic-influenced wines of 2021 will be known.

Wines of Atlantic influence

Climate change is allowing some traditionally white regions to now produce great reds and areas in the north of the peninsula where grape ripening was an almost impossible achievement now thirteen degrees can be achieved without great effort.

For this reason, the wines that are made under the influence of the Atlantic climate, where the ripening of the grape was not so simple and where some areas are classified as heroic viticulture, are gaining more and more prominence on the national and international scene.

The objective of this competition is to analyze wines with an Atlantic profile, which have a special personality and characteristics due to the climatic conditions that occur in vineyards near the ocean: freshness, salinity and a lower alcohol content.
