Being a formal worker who contributes to the IMSS, one of the objectives is to generate a good pension to enjoy your retirement, but there are some reasons in which the social security institute can deny your right to retire. Which consist of the following:

1-Failure to comply with quoted weeks

This case is due to the fact that the workers do not comply with the minimum of 775 weeks of contributions requested by the IMSS in 2022. Therefore, if you contributed less than 14.9 years, you will have to wait longer. You must take into account that each year they increase by 25 weeks to reach the limit of 1,000 contribution weeks in 2031, or 19.2 years of formal work.

2- Not being in force in your rights

This situation that occurs when you stop contributing to the IMSS. In this case, a grace period equivalent to a quarter of the weeks you have quoted is given. This means that if you contributed for 1,000 weeks, you have up to 250 weeks to request your pension. The greater the number of weeks, the longer you retain your rights, and vice versa, the fewer weeks, the less time to retain your rights.

3- Dying while active without minimum weeks

If the worker dies before completing 150 weeks of contribution, the pension is annulled, which will directly affect his partner, since the widow’s pension is cancelled. Unless it is a work-related death, no minimum number of weeks is required.

4- Return to work without notice to IMSS:

Although it is not impossible to return to work and be retired, you must comply with a rule in order not to put your pension at risk, such as waiting six months after your pension to work again, earning less than 50% of your last salary and not hold the same job.
