Mazda will have 13 new cars between 2022 and 2025

Mazda has tried to keep up with the global emissions standards stricter by increasing the efficiency of its internal combustion engines, but it now appears that the automaker is embracing electrification fully, in a somewhat hasty fashion.

The EV platform will be called Skyactiv EV Scalable Architecture and will accommodate a variety of vehicle sizes and body styles. He has done so, for his part, advancing in what is his upcoming development of software technologies to provide next-generation mobility services.

In electric and hybrid vehicles, Mazda plans to between 2022 and 2025 A total of thirteen cars will be presented: five hybrid models, five models with plug-in hybrid motorization and three more completely electric. All developed under the so-called Skyactiv Scalable Multisolution Architecture (Skyactiv Scalable EV Architecture).

What electric models Mazda presents today

Despite all the investment that Mazda will make in the field of fully electric mobility, the company has not given up the engine of internal combustion. In fact, with it will come new launches between self-charging hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technologies.

At the same time, and from 2025 to 2030, it will launch other models under one of these three technologies, pointing out that from the new launches the brand assumes that the all of its products they will incorporate some level of electrification and 25% will be fully electric.

In his case, what we know is that the manufacturer would introduce new technologies such as its driver assistance system in its larger models from next year. This system would be able to detect sudden changes in the physical condition of the driver, being able to stop the vehicle safely. But, what do we have with them?

Mazda MX-30 (EV)

Today Mazda has a unique electric car in its range: the MX-30. This is a compact SUV that homologates 200 kilometers of autonomy, the same one that has been considered by many as a model of commitment to comply with the new emission regulations of the European Union.

Although it is not the strongest on the market, it is a more than interesting model with which the Japanese have entered this variant. With it, an SUV is offered that is based on the Japanese firm’s Kodo design philosophy, that is, a “solid and pure appearance that reflects the beauty of eliminating any superfluous element.”

With a lot of minimalism both inside and outside, we find an engine that develops 105 kW of power (143 hp), sending its power to the front end through a single fixed ratio change. For its part, this engine is powered by a lithium-ion battery located under the floor of the passenger compartment, with a capacity of 35.5 kWh. Although its 200 km is a low figure that relegates it to urban areas, it is compatible with a protocol of fast recharge up to 50 kWwith which it recovers 80% of its charge in just over half an hour.

M3 2022

This is the one known as Mazda 3 2022, or simply M3, but from which it is not distinguished as another electric model, but rather the one that has hybrid technology. Very different in all aspects from proposals such as the MX-30, this is found under the name Mazda Alexa Skyactiv-Hybrid.

"Mazda

With it, a 99 hp gasoline propellant is offered accompanied by an 82 hp electric one, which together achieve some interesting 136 hp, exactly the same figures offered on the market by models such as the Lexus CT200h or the Toyota Auris Hybrid. Benefiting from the DGT ECO label, it has consumption of only 4 litres/100 km.

CX-30 (hybrid)

Being the evolution of the number 2, Mazda also addressed electrified cars with this hybrid, the CX-30. A hybrid version that stands out for its overall balanceenjoying correct performance, adjusted consumption and the comfort of its double clutch gearbox.

This is a compact SUV, but with a sporty style that makes it a very attractive option. In addition, it is also practical and functional. Totally valid for daily urban and interurban use. It does so by running through a 2-liter gasoline engine that is supported by a mild hybrid system (mild hybrid) 24V. This engine also incorporates a compressor to achieve greater energy efficiency. Carrying the ECO label, it has a total power of 186 CV.
