In Mexico, malignant tumors are among the leading causes of mortality and the most common types of cancer are breast, prostate, thyroid, colon, rectum, cervical and lung.
Each year around 27,500 cases of breast cancer and just over 25,000 prostate cancers are detected in Mexico.
World Cancer Research Day is celebrated every September 24 of each year, the purpose of this day is to continue encouraging the medical society to generate new discoveries that can help stop or eliminate cancer in people. Understand the reason for its origin and look for ways to avoid it.
According to the Ministry of Health (SSA), For this reason, today, September 24, World Cancer Research Day was established. This date seeks to raise awareness about the importance of research into this disease, which has the following objectives:
- Increase survival.
- Facilitate access to scientific advances around the world.
- Reduce the global burden of cancer.
Another goal pursued by World Cancer Research Day is to encourage governments around the world to promote policies that allow early detection of the disease, as well as access to the latest generation treatments, less toxic drugs and, above all, , an integral support to the families of the patients.
