Facebook has approximately 2.9 billion users worldwide.
Currently, we live in a very connected world thanks to social networks and the internet. That is why it is normal to find every day any type of story that demonstrates the importance of these digital media in the lives of people today, such as the woman who narrated how she found her half-sister thanks to the social network Facebook.
A recent report by We Are Social and Hootsuiterevealed that there are currently 4.62 billion network users worldwide, which represents a year-on-year growth of more than 10 percent.
Given these data, Facebook is first in the world, as one of the most iconic social networks. According to data from DataReportal, the platform created by Mark Zuckerberg, it topped again in 2021 the ranking of the platforms with the most active users, with approximately 2.9 billion.
Despite the fact that data from Edison Research reported a loss of 15 million active users per month in the United States market alone, as well as the fact that at least a third of its audience was using the platform less and less, Facebook remains the largest social network owned in the world.
Where, some analysts believe that the reason why Facebook has managed to keep the number of users on the rise worldwide, is because there are more and more people over 50 years of age.
This was the reunion thanks to Facebook
Social networks have been a great field for moving reunions, between friends, couples and even family members. As is the case that arose between two half-sisters who, despite living thousands of kilometers apart, were able to meet again thanks to Facebook.
The story, which quickly went viral on the Tiktok social network, tells how the half-sisters came together after being thousands of miles apart, since one of them lived in Canada and the other in Argentina.
The moving story was narrated by one of the sisters, Maru Mondoux, who explained how she was able to unite with her relative after reestablishing contact after 10 years of separation.
In the recording shared on the short video platform, Maru says that, just like in the movie “Game of Twins”, her parents fell in love and started a family in Canada, but after a strong fight they had to separate and break all contact, pushing the girls away.
According to the “story time” of Maru, she had very few memories of her half-sister, since she only lived with her when she was just a baby.

But she was certain that her sister’s memories would have more clarity, because before the separation, Justine had been around nine years old and she was not mistaken.
These types of unions are very easy to carry out today, since just by knowing a first or last name, or username, it is very easy to find who we want to contact on the internet, on Facebook or on another social network.
Carrying out this digital search, it was thus that Maru was able to find her half-sister.
In her narration, the youngest of the sisters says that as soon as she opened her Facebook account, she began to establish contact with all her relatives, including her Canadian half-sister, Justine.
However, as is often the case, Justine did not trust the identity, so she asked him to start making video calls to verify that it was really her lost half-sister.
After confirming their identity, the contact between the sisters began to be more constant to the point of meeting in person.
Through another video, Maru shared that at that time, her paternal grandfather passed away and this allowed them to meet again, since she left an inheritance, with which Justine was able to buy a plane ticket to Mendoza, to meet her half-sister again.
It is not the first time that stories like these have gone viral on social networks, because on one occasion a young man who was reported missing by his relatives was found partying thanks to a publication by other Internet users on Twitter.
And this is how the internet has also changed the way we relate to each other on an emotional level. In this sense, now we are all in communication with each other in a more accessible, immediate and simple way, bringing our personal and sentimental relationships closer to the mobile phone screen.
