The global business value derived from AI is estimated to total $1.2 trillion.
AI will move around 16 billion dollars in the world economy.
Smart products account for 18 percent of the value of AI.
Technology has come to the world to help us in the most complex tasks, but also to recreate peculiar and unlikely moments that happened in the past. This is the case of the story that has gone viral of a dead woman who surprised her relatives at her own funeral, after appearing to speak thanks to Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In simple terms, artificial intelligence refers to systems or machines that mimic human intelligence to perform tasks and can iteratively improve based on the information they collect.
According to Gartner datar, the global business value derived from artificial intelligence is estimated to total $1.2 trillion in 2018, which represents an increase of no less than 70 percent compared to 2017.
Likewise, the consultancy PwCestimates that in the next ten years, AI will move around 16 billion dollars in the world economy, for what many consider it as the greatest challenge and the greatest opportunity that humanity has today.
He talks to his relative at his own funeral
It all started when mourners for a woman identified as 87-year-old Marina Smith thought they had said goodbye forever, But in the middle of the funeral, the relatives and funeral attendees got more than they expected when he appeared speaking again thanks to the AI.
Smith, who died in June, made a surprise virtual appearance at his own funeral ceremony in Nottingham, UK, thanks to new AI-powered “holographic” video technology.
According to what was published by the Telegraph newspaper, this appearance was made thanks to an artificial intelligence tool called StoryFile, created by her son, Dr. Stephen Smith, which allowed funeral attendees to engage in real conversation with the woman and ask questions to which they would get answers.
It was learned that the beloved mother and grandmother lived a life that consisted of helping others and even created her own non-profit organization.
As well, before her death, Smith recorded hours of footage of herself talking about her life, and much of the information shared was not known to her mourners.
Her son’s technology used 20 cameras to film her answering questions, and her tool can generate a digital clone of Smith. So the technology created the illusion of real-time conversation.
Smith’s son launched StoryFile in 2017, with the initial goal of sharing compelling stories from Holocaust survivors. He has now expanded beyond that, sharing stories of historical figures and, of course, interactive videos at funerals.
StoryFile made its services publicly available earlier this week, meaning everyone has access to create their own interactive experiences using its technology. The lavish service will set you back $47, around 940 Mexican pesos, but is sure to create a lasting memory your loved ones won’t forget.
As expected, the hologram “shocked” mourners, according to Smith’s son. In addition, the questions were answered with “new details and honesty.”
“Mom answered questions from grieving relatives after they saw her cremation,” she told the local outlet.
“People feel emboldened to register their data. The bereaved could get a freer and truer version of their lost loved one.”
Like this case that uses AI, there are many more, especially those that involve this technology with health. As an example, the story of a young man who generated the artificial intelligence that interprets sign language.
In that sense, this type of development and technology demonstrates the value that this industry currently has around the world, where many experts explain that robots can increase labor productivity, reduce production costs and improve product quality.
