The series of WipeOut It started on the original PlayStation, but it’s been almost 10 years since we last saw an entirely new installment. Fortunately, this is about to change, as today has been announced wipEout Rush, a game for mobile devices that will be available next year.
Through a trailer, it has been confirmed that wipEout Rush will hit iOS and Android devices sometime in 2022, at the moment there is no exact date. This installment will be published by Rogue Games, who are aware that fans want a more traditional installment, but hope that players will give this new proposal a chance. This is what Matt Casamassina, CEO of this company, commented on the matter:
“If I want that visceral, immersive and intense racing experience, I’ll find it waiting for you on PlayStation. But at the same time, we’re thrilled to be able to rethink wipEout for mobile devices with some new features, fun mechanics, and great visual flair.
We hope fans will approach it with an open mind because, while different, we are proud to refocus the wipEout franchise with a new take on the formula. We have poured a lot of love into the presentation, which includes loads of iconic ships and tracks, a new comic book-inspired narrative, a proper electronic soundtrack, and great visuals that run at 60fps on modern hardware. “

wipEout Rush offers us 60 ships to drive, as well as a single player campaign with 12 championship races in five different environments, and its gameplay includes a card system. Similarly, Alastair Lindsay, composer of series like Killzone, will be in charge of the electronic soundtrack for this installment.
wipEout Rush will arrive on iOS and Android devices in 2022. On related issues, Anthony Mackie will star in the live action Twisted Metal series.
