The link between Margot Robbie and Harley Quinn will continue for several more years as the Australian actress would have signed for three more films with Warner Bros and DC Comics
Everything indicates that there will be Harley Quinn for a while, and with it the return of actress Margot Robbie as the interpreter of the former Arkham psychiatrist who in 1992 created Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for Batman: The Animated Series, and who has gained prominence within the DC Universe.
Don’t Miss: Margot Robbie Says There Will Be Harley Quinn For Longer
The site Giant Freaking Robot reports that Warner Bros. reached an agreement with Margot Robbie to participate in three more DC Comics films playing Harley Quinn.
Robbie debuted in 2016 playing the antiheroine in the Suicide Squad plot, she already appeared twice more, as the protagonist of Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and in The Suicide Squad, which rebooted the franchise.
Some of the projects that have been contemplated for Margot Robbie is Gotham City Sirens, where Harley Quin teams up with Poison Ivy and Catwoman, in a plot located in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
What is ruled out is that Robbie takes part in a sequel to Birds of Prey, since Leslie Grace would be thought of as Batgirl for this project, once his solo film is released on digital platforms.
A short break from Harley Quinn?
In 2021 Margot Robbie had stated that she was planning to take a break from her portrayal of Harley Quinn, as the filming of Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad were very close.
But Robbie herself clarified that this break does not mean that in the future she will not return to the character, since there are stories of Harley Quinn that the Australian actress wants to explore, one of the reasons why she decided to make Birds of Prey before Gotham City Sirens.
“I’ve had enough rest. I’m ready to play it again… I did Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad back-to-back, so that was a lot of Harley in a one-year period, but that was a while ago. I’m always ready for more Harley!
The Mermaids of Gotham could fall into the hands of James Gunn, who is already developing a new project for DC Comics, after directing The Suicide Squad, and creating the Peacemaker series that will premiere on January 13 on digital platforms.
