Today it was revealed that PlayStation bought Savage Game Studios, a team specialized in mobile games, and which would be the first member in a new division focused on this market. In this way, many wondered if the direction of PlayStation Studios will change in the future, especially considering the forays into the world of VR and service games. Fortunately, the company has clarified this situation.
Through a statement on his blog, Hermen Hulst, president of PlayStation Studios, reaffirmed its commitment to AAA single-player experiencesWhat Horizon Forbidden West Y God of War: Ragnarok. This is what he commented on it:
“As we assured you with our plans to release certain titles on PC, our efforts to reach beyond consoles in no way affect our commitment to the PlayStation community or our motivation to continue creating narrative single-player experiences. .
It’s been a great year for games on PS5 and PS4 with incredible titles like Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, MLB The Show 22, and, on November 9, the long-awaited God of War: Ragnarök.
PlayStation VR2 is also coming soon, and promises to be a huge step forward in presence and immersion, aided by some great software like Horizon: Call of the Mountain. We’re also proud of PC releases like Uncharted: Legacy of Thives Collection and Marvel’s Spider-Man, which allow gamers without PlayStation devices to try out our superb library of in-house titles.”
While single player games will continue to be a core part of the PlayStation market, the company is investing in other trends, and the recent purchase of Savage Game Studios makes this more than clear. It only remains for us to see what all the company’s studios are working on. In related topics, you can learn more about the acquisition of this study here.
Editor’s note:
Considering that in 2022 only Horizon Forbidden West Y god of war ragnarok manage to deliver on Hulst’s promise, it’s normal for the public to have a couple of doubts about the company’s direction, but don’t forget that Insomniac and more studios are working in this direction.
