At the beginning of the year, all governments have the obligation to establish the official calendar where the days are marked official holidays, unofficial and others, which are important to know when there will be no compulsory work and when there will be extra pay in case you have to work according to your work center. For the month of June, the Congress of the Republic of Peru approved the inclusion of the June 7th as an official holiday in commemoration of the “Battle of Arica and Flag Day”. However, the question is whether this holiday counts for this year 2023 or from the next.
Will there be a holiday this Wednesday, June 7, 2023?
It should be noted that, for now, June 7, 2023 has not been officially declared a national holiday. According to César Puntriano Rosas in conversation with the newspaper El Peruano, he pointed out that President Dina Boluarte has a period of 15 business days to promulgate or observe the proposed regulations.
“It is important to comment that the President of the Republic has 15 business days to promulgate the proposed regulation or observe it, this has not happened to date, therefore, we reiterate, there is still no new holiday,” said the specialist on what it could be the next national holiday.
Holidays in June and how much do they pay if you work
The remaining holidays in the month of June are 28 and 29. Those who work these days will receive two additional days of remuneration at the end of the month. It is not a triple payment, because, we reiterate, the payment for June 29 is already included in the normal monthly salary.
For example: if a worker receives 1,500 soles per month, his daily salary is equivalent to 50 soles (1,500 divided by 30 days).
By resting on June 29, his salary at the end of the month will be 1,500 soles. He is paid 50 soles for the holiday as if he had worked even though he rested.
