Every week the Secretary of Public Finance in the DOF the federal IEPS quotas, by type of fuel, based on the prices in the global oil market, and of gasoline and diesel in the United States, the main fuel supplier country of Mexico. .

The Treasury grants a subsidy or discount to the IEPS quotas, if the price of fuels rises; if the price of fuel falls, the Treasury reduces the discount.
