In this story, Batman has been operating in Gotham City for a year, which comes to weigh on him when he goes after Gotham’s most dangerous criminals, such as Carmine Falcone, Penguin and even the terrifying Riddler, who has become a murderer who It has society on alert.
Interviewed by Collider, Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves highlighted the characteristics why The Batman is not an origin film, which differentiates it from other films directed by filmmakers such as Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder.
“When he (Batman) is Bruce, he is still living in the day his parents died. I mean, he hasn’t let it go at all, and he becomes Batman, almost to survive his present instead of thinking, ‘Oh, I’m going to make a new future.’”, mentions Pattinson.
The new protagonist of The Batman highlights that the Dark Knight’s armor represents a shell with which Bruce avoids going back to the trauma of witnessing the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne at all costs.
“It is to protect himself more than anything else. And as soon as he takes it off, he just goes back to being a 10 year old and the pain is still very real.”.
The pain beyond the cloak and the suit
For his part, Matt Reves compares the case of Bruce Wayne to that of the members of the Kennedy family, who were seriously affected by the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.
“There’s another way to go, which is this idea of thinking that he’s almost a member of the Kennedy family or one of the Royals, and in the wake of this death, he never quite recovered. And that if you saw him on the street, if you ever saw him, he would become a recluse, but if you saw him, he would look very pale, like bruised, and you would think that this guy is a drug addict”.
Reeves equates Bruce Wayne’s need to put on the Batman suit as a drug that allows him to escape his pain.
“What’s your problem? You’d think he was a real pain in the ass, and I guess in a way, maybe he is. But what it is, is that this drug that he’s addicted to is running away from himself, and doing this thing, it’s this trying to make sense thing. We talk a lot about it”.
The Batman will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton / The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin, and John Turturro as crime boss Carmine Falcone.
Jeffrey Wright will also star as Police Commissioner James Gordon, while Andy Serkis will play Alfred Pennyworth.
The premiere of The Batman in movie theaters in Mexico is scheduled for March 3, 2022.

Batman: Year One; a masterpiece that SMASH and DC Comics Mexico bring to you
In 1986, Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli produced this groundbreaking take on the origin of Batman: who he is and how he came to be. Sometimes careless and naive, this Dark Knight is far from the impeccable vigilante he is today.
In his first year on the job, Batman moves through a much darker Gotham City than the one he left. His solemn oath to extinguish crime from the city is only half the battle. Along with Lieutenant James Gordon, the Dark Knight must also battle a police force more corrupt than the scum of the streets.
