In recent years we have seen a new special formula for these cases: Bepanthol Tattoo. The brand ensures that it has created a special formula that protects and cares for the delicate tattooed skin against possible skin conditions. However, it seems that the differences with the protective ointment are not very noticeable.
Bepanthol ointment vs Bepanthol Tattoo
According to the brand, Bepanthol Tattoo is an emulsion that forms a protective layer on the surface of the skin, protecting it against contact with irritating substances while acting as a barrier, preventing water loss and providing hydration in localized areas. Tattooed skin is sensitive to skin conditions and needs a specifically formulated product to protect and care for it.
Both contain emollients (lipid content) that form a protective barrier that prevents dehydration and isolates it from irritating substances. In addition, it also provides panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) for rapid skin recovery. So the two products soothe, hydrate and repair the skin for a healthy looking tattoo.
To find out if they are different versions, it is advisable to read the composition of both creams. Surprisingly, both contain exactly the same ingredients: «Aqua, Lanolin, Paraffinum liquidum, Petrolatum, Panthenol, Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil, Cera alba, Cetyl alcohol, Stearyl alcohol, Ozokerite, Glyceryl oleate, Lanolin alcohol«.
So when we go to the pharmacy, it is recommended to order the original to avoid paying more for the same cream. It is true that each establishment has different prices, but the version Tattoo is usually more expensive.
Is it better than Vaseline?
Anyone who has tried them will know that their formula creates a breathable layer that protects tattooed skin. Deeply moisturizes to facilitate skin regeneration and restores its natural balance. In addition, this protective cream contains no perfume, dyes or preservatives and can be used as often as necessary.
However, when compared to Vaseline, Bepanthol is a better product for tattooed skin. Although Vaseline is often used during the tattooing process, it does not have such a lasting effect on the skin as to remain moisturizing for so many hours. It’s also more likely to pick up dust and other airborne particles, so it’s not recommended for fresh tattoos.
This is possibly one of the main reasons why Bepanthol is the best option for taking care of tattoos.
