Why does TikTok add stories if Twitter has removed them?

While the social network where more have triumphed the stories is in Instagram (after Snapchat has stopped being used a lot), on Twitter it has been the opposite. The platform christened this function as “Fleets”, but never had the effect that its creators would have wanted it to have from the beginning.

That Twitter has decided to eliminate this function almost at the same time that TikTok has decided to implement it it may be due to several reasonss. You have to understand how each social network works, its function and what is the public that it has and which one is it addressed to. That is why the story function did not have a profile to succeed on Twitter while on TikTok it can be the opposite.

Why has Twitter removed the “Fleets”?

When his arrival was announced eight months ago, the show it was not very well received by users. Twitter is a social network where what predominate are two things: the dissemination of information So what each person tweeted whatever you want, being able to do it alone or interacting with another user.

Besides that this function was late since it was on other social networks, users were not used to publish content on this social network so that later they will eliminate after a day, but fair quite the opposite, post things that last over time.

Best use that was given to them was by some press media that took advantage of the function of “Fleets” to make a news gathering at the end of each day. But on the users’ side, it was a feature that very few people used.

We had big hopes for Fleets, but now it’s time to say goodbye and take flight with other ideas. Starting August 3, Fleets will no longer be available.

The platform itself recognized that those who most used the “fleets” were people who already published many tweets, so they did not get attract new people.

And why is TikTok testing them?

For its part, yesterday it was discovered that TikTok is testing its own story system, copying the one previously made by Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. It was all thanks to a tweet from a social media consultant that showed a few screenshots with the new feature on TikTok.

At first it seemed that they were a fake capture, but later it was confirmed to be true and that TikTok is testing this feature for future implementation.

Unlike Twitter, this social network is based on the entertainment thanks to short videos created by users (although the platform was recently updated and now lets you record videos of up to three minutes in length).

Therefore, the function of the stories in TikTok could have a better result than in Twitter since on this platform users are very more used to posting content short-term audiovisual. What’s more, most of the public from TikTok is young, a group that is much more open to publishing any content.

The TikTok spokesperson has assured that they are always thinking about new ways to improve the experience of all its users, in order to provide new tools that help to increase creativity of all users of the social network.

In addition, in TikTok there are a lot of content creators and influencers they sure use this function a lot. On the contrary, Twitter it is not especially used by these people. Only time will tell if the stories on TikTok succeed or just stay in a function that will eventually become obsolete.
