How does Didi’s payment work?
On his official page, Didi shares that all his fares are calculated based on distance traveled, travel duration, and a base fare. But on a receipt you can find all the following concepts:
- Base Rate
- cost per kilometer
- cost per duration
- dynamic rate
- waiting fee
- application fee
- Additional amount for gasoline
The concepts that are always charged are the base rate, cost per duration and the application fee.
Since December last year, Didi began to charge extra for the concept of “additional amount for gasoline”; same as paid by users who use the service. According to the company, this is an initiative for drivers to receive an extra amount for the fuel spent.
The amounts are not very high. They can vary between weight up to five pesos. However, this medium consulted Didi to find out how this cost is calculated and if the company subsidizes one part and the users another, to which they replied that it is confidential information.
Doing calculations with various receipts, the cost per kilometer is approximately 31 cents. “Everything that adds up is benefit”, shared Victor B., driver of the platform. “Although the Didi commission is not so transparent,” he added.
The official page of the platform no longer shows the cost of the fees. The only thing it shows is an image where they say that the drivers earn per minute is three pesos and the earn per kilometer is two pesos, although they also mention that it can vary depending on the city.
On the other hand, the page does not explain to users how the cost of the base rate, cost per kilometer and duration is calculated.
