Buy the Movistar UHD decoder It is a decision you have to make if you want to enjoy the operator’s content in 4K resolution. The cost of this decoder is 40 euros in its self-installing mode with Ethernet cable, and 60 euros for the WiFi version. If you hire a Selection Fusion mode or higher, the UHD deco is free.
HDMI 2.0 – A must for 4K @ 60Hz
If we make a deco change already having the previous one, the HDMI cable It will not be included, and we will have to reuse the one from the previous model. This cable should be HDMI 2.0, but in case it is HDMI 1.4, we would have to change it.
The Movistar UHD deco is capable of sending a signal to the television in 4K at 60 Hz, so it is essential to use a HDMI 2.0 or higher cable to get the most out of it. If we use an HDMI 1.4, we will be limited to 4K at 30 Hz. This will mean that, for example, we cannot enjoy the football or Formula 1 in 4K fluently at 50 FPS, since the TV will only be able to display 30 frames per second in 4K with the HDMI 1.4 cable due to not having more bandwidth.
In addition, the HDMI 2.0 cable is a must also to see HDR contentSince the information required to display 10-bit content is only transmitted via HDMI 2.0 or higher cables.
Where is it better to connect the Movistar deco?
In Smart TVs it is common to find three or four HDMI ports. However, not all HDMI ports on our televisions are the same, as there are always one or two that offer better performance. Among them we find, for example, HDMI 2.1 connectivity, as well as ARC or eARC.
In order to enjoy the highest image quality, it will not matter which port we connect it to as long as it is HDMI 2.0 or higher. MHL connectors are designed to connect mobile phones, although fewer and fewer phones use it. Too ARC and eARC They are used to connect stereos.
For deco, it is best to use the HDMI connector STB, where STB stands for set-top box. Connecting it there does not imply any specific improvement, but it will allow it to be identified more easily on the television when we go to select it. If the port is HDMI-CECWe can also use it to connect there devices that we want to control with the same TV remote. The Movistar deco, unfortunately, does not support HDMI-CEC yet. The deco supports the function, but it is not implemented. Therefore, in the future we could get to see it, but not at the moment.
