The best universities in Latin America and Mexico
The University of Sao Paulo repeated one more year as the best university in Latin America in the Shanghai ranking, whose 2022 edition was published today.
According to this update of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), published by the Jiao Tong University, the aforementioned center is not only the most valued in the region but it is also the only one to appear in the range of positions 101 to 150 of best universities in the world, just like last year.
Brazil has 21 universities within the ranking; Mexico and Chile, 4 each; Argentina, 2 and Colombia 2.
In the case of Mexico, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) is the best positioned. In the Shanghai 2022 ranking, the top university is positioned in positions 201-300.
In second place is the National Polytechnic Institute, positioned in the range of places 601-700. However, last year, the IPN had been placed in a better place, between positions 501-600.
In third place was the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies, in the niche of positions 801-900, and in fourth place in Mexico was the Metropolitan Autonomous University, which was placed in places 900-1000 of the best world universities.
