The day is coming! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is about to recognize the artists who brought to life the best films released during the previous year. Here we tell you where to see and all the details about the 2023 edition of the Oscars.
Nominees and Latino presence at the 2023 Oscars
This year Everything everywhere at the same time leads the race with 11 nominations, followed by the spirits of the island and the german film No news at the front with 9 mentions each. The queen category for Best Film is completed by: Avatar: The Path of Water, Elvis, The Fabelmans, TÁR, Top Gun: Maverick, The triangle of sadness and They speak.
Mexico will also be very attentive to this edition as there are high possibilities of golden statuettes. Given the trend throughout awards season, it seems almost a guarantee that we’ll see Guillermo del Toro take the stage to collect the Best Animated Feature Oscar for pinocchio. Likewise, Alfonso Cuarón, in his role as producer, has serious possibilities to win the award for Best Live Action Short Film with I pupiled him. Meanwhile, the Iranian-French Darius Khondji is seeking the award for Best Cinematography for Bard, false chronicle of a few truthsby Alejandro González Iñárritu.
Other Latinos to keep in mind are Cuban-Spanish Ana de Armas, who is in the quintet for Best Actress for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in Blonde. On the other hand, Argentina, 1985by Santiago Mitre, competes for Best International Film.

Host, presenters and musical guests
Host Jimmy Kimmel returns to host the gala for the third time in his career. The ceremony will be produced by Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, with Weiss directing.

As is tradition, it has been confirmed that almost all the nominees for Best Original Song will perform their songs at the gala: Rihanna for “lift me up” of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; Sofia Carson and Diane Warren with “Applause” of Tell It Like a Woman; Stephanie Hsu, David Byrne and Son Lux for “This Is a Life” of Everything everywhere at the same timeas well as Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava with “Naatu Naatu” by RRR.
The only artist who has not announced her appearance is Lady Gaga, who is nominated with “Hold My Had” by Top Gun: Maverick. filming of Joker: Folie à Deux would be the reason for his absence.
Finally, Grammy Award winner Lenny Kravitz will offer the special performance of the “In Memoriam” segment.
When, at what time and where to see the 2023 Oscars?
The 95th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday March 12, 2023 from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The ceremony will be televised live in more than 200 territories around the world.
The options to see the gala live are the following for the Mexican Republic:
- Open television (Mexico): Aztec TV.
- Cable TV / streaming (Latin America): TNT Latin America and HBO Max.
Pre-coverage with the red carpet will begin in both cases at 3:00 pm PT / 6:00 pm ET (5:00 pm Mexico time). While, The award ceremony will begin sharp at 5:00 pm PT / 8:00 pm ET (7:00 pm Mexico time).
