This weekend comes the Winter time and with it the last schedule change in Mexico. This will be the last time the clock will be adjusted due to the removal of the summer schedule. Thus, from this change, there will be more natural light during the morning, but it will get dark earlier.
The change will be throughout the country, except in some northern border areas they will continue with a “seasonal schedule” due to their integration into commercial operations with the United States.
States and municipalities that decide to maintain summer time may do so as long as they make a formal request to Congress, after making a citizen consultation.
Winter time, is the clock forward or backward?
In winter time, the clock must be set back one hour. The exact time to do it this year is Sunday October 30 at 2:00 am, but it is recommended to do it from Saturday October 29 before going to sleep.
The idea of winter time is:
- Make the most of the light in the morning
- Have better hours of sleep
- Improve health by returning to a more natural rhythm
- And, at least on the day of the change, sleep one more hour
Why was Daylight Saving Time removed?
For 26 years the seasonal time change had been implemented to hypothetically save electricity use. However, a study by the Ministry of Energy, this change barely meant less than 1% cut energy spending in Mexico.
