A new widow
Although the original group of Avengers was dismantled after Avengers: Endgame, the legacy of many will continue in their respective successors. Falcon is now officially the new Captain America, Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will take over Thor’s power, while Spider-Man has been portrayed as the heroic heir to Iron Man. There was no reason to think that Black Widow would be the exception. and his solo film raises suspicions with a Yelena Belova who seems destined to follow in her sister’s footsteps to build a better world. Of course, do not expect the sobriety shown by the character of Scarlett Johansson, because the freshness shown by Florence Pugh makes it very clear that Marvel Studios would not settle for a simple repetition of formulas for their new spy.
More symbolic is that the post-credits scene of Black Widow anticipates that Yelena’s final step will happen in a direct duel with Hawkeye, who was decisive for Natasha Romanoff to choose the path of good. An encounter that could also become decisive for the goalkeeper.
Although this could be with another actress in case Scarlett Johansson and Disney do not resolve their differences.
Hawkeye factor
Clint Barton has been dreaming of retirement for a long time so he can enjoy his family, but this has been complicated by all kinds of events ranging from the civil war between superheroes to the time travel to save the universe. Although everything indicates that retirement will finally materialize in the Hawkeye series, the post-credits scene of Black Widow reveals that the archer must first face a very tough adversary in the figure of Yelena Belova, who has been convinced that the character is responsible for the death of his sister.
The good news is that the hero will not be alone, as he will have the support of Kate Bishop. The young woman played by Hailee Steinfeld will inherit the bow and arrow of the hawk to join the new generation of Marvel heroes and with a little luck, form a friendship as solid with Yelena as the one that once united their respective predecessors.
Let’s talk about mutants
For years there has been speculation about the foray of mutants into the MCU once Marvel Studios regained their rights. Against all odds, the long-awaited debut did not come with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, or Evan Peters’ Quicksilver, but with a supporting character like Ursa Major. This is an individual capable of becoming a bear without losing his personality, intelligence and ability to speak, unless he spends many hours in this state, of course. This animal form grants him superhuman strength and endurance, that even exceed the capabilities of a real bear with the same proportions.
Doesn’t it sound like you’ve seen a bear in Black Widow? You are absolutely right, as the character appears in human form in the sequence that shows Alexei Shostakov, best remembered as the Red Guardian, locked up in prison. Although the studio has not said anything about it, actor Olivier Richters confirmed in his networks that “after two years I can finally tell you who my characters are: Ursa Major: the first mutant (X-Men) to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe .
