Twenty years after the premiere of Smallville, we present to you what the cast of the longest running Superman series now looks like.
When it aired in 2001, many did not bet that a series inspired by the youth of Superman and the discovery of his powers could be more successful than the three seasons reached by the eighties series Superboy. And without a doubt, a large part of Smallville’s success was due to its cast.
Discover with us what the actors who made up the Smallville cast look like today, 20 years after the start of the series.
Tom Wellin (Clark Kent)
With an on-and-off acting career following the success of Smaville, Welling was seen in films like Cheaper by the Dozen. And although he has been in semi-retirement in front of the cameras, since his appearance in Lucifer in 2017 it seems that Tom has rediscovered a taste for acting.
As a fun fact, actor Milo Ventimiglia, who rose to fame as Peter Petrelli on the 2006 series Heroes, sought to be cast in the role of Clark Kent, which ultimately fell to Welling. Another actor who also competed for the character was Brandon Routh, who succeeded, but until the movie Superman Retunrs. Here’s what Tom looks like at 44:
Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang)
Although discreet, Kristin Kreuk’s acting career has not been interrupted in more than two decades, standing out in productions such as Chuck (opposite Zachary Levi, the current Shazam! From the cinema), Beauty and the Beast and Burden of Truth. She is Kristin at 38 years old:
Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor)
In addition to accompanying Clark as he discovers his powers, Smallville allowed us to see the evolution of the Luthor towards the side of evil. And although it sounds strange, Rosenbaum’s performance taught more than one to love the bald villain. At 49, this is the current appearance of the voice actor:
Erica Durance (Lois Lane)
For many fans, the arrival of Lois Lane to the series was surprising, because in the comics, Smallville was an exclusive territory of Lana, Superman’s first-time love. However, Durance knew how to give the character all the strength and character it requires, managing to be for many the best Lois Lane on TV.
Erica Durance returned to the mythology of the Krytonians as Alura, the mother of Kara Zor-El in the series Supergirl (2015). Look at her at 43:
Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen)
Although unlikely according to the comics, Oliver Queen became a pivotal presence on Smallville, and the addition of Justin Hartley to the cast was also an act of justice, as he was another of several young actors who lost the role of Clark Kent to Tom Welling. This is what he looks like at 44:
Laura Vandervoort (Kara Zor-El / Supergirl)
The Canadian was another actress who did not completely separate from the Kryptonian myths at the end of Smaville, because like Durance, Laura Vandervoort joined the Supergirl series as the villain Indigo / Brainiac 8. Today she is 37 years old:
Note: Although of the entire Smallville cast only Tom Wellin (Clark Kent) and Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) appeared in the entire 10 seasons of the series, due to the well-known and sad post-series story we decided to leave out of this count. to Allison Mack.
