The recommendations regarding things and implements were given by the National Emergency Office of the Chilean Ministry of the Interior (Onemi), so if you are aware of the risk situation in which you find yourself, it is time to do it and not delay more time.
Remember, an earthquake occurs the least expected day and hour; Although, you cannot avoid it, at least go ahead and get ready in case an event of this magnitude occurs.
WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY KIT?
An emergency kit is a collection of basic items that you and your family may need in the event of an emergency such as an earthquake or earthquake.
WHAT SHOULD THE CHILE EARTHQUAKE EMERGENCY KIT CONTAIN?
According to Onemi, the basic emergency kit must contain the following:
- Water: consider two liters per person per day (includes small bottles that are easier to transport).
- Food: canned, energy bars and dehydrated food.
- Manual can opener.
- Flashlights and batteries.
- Portable radio with extra batteries.
- First aid kit.
- Special items: medicines and glasses. Consider the needs of children, the elderly and the disabled.
- Spare keys to your house and your car.
- Cash.
- Copy of the Emergency Plan.
WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL SURVIVAL PROVISIONS?
- Two additional liters of water per day.
- Candles, lighters or matches.
- A change of clothes and shoes (for each family member).
- Sleeping bag or blanket (for each family member).
- Toiletries.
- Hand gel soap.
- Toilet paper.
- Kitchen utensils (at least two pots).
- Garbage bags.
- Chlorine or tablets to purify water.
- Basic tools: hammer, gloves, screwdrivers, pliers, wrench, penknife or small knife.
- Grill or barbecue.
- Whistle.
IF I HAVE A VEHICLE, WHAT IS THE EMERGENCY KIT FOR IT?
In the event that you have a vehicle, you must have a kit in it, which must have:
- Food that does not spoil.
- Bottled water.

- A change of clothes.
- First aid kit.
- A shovel.
- Candles and matches.
- Extinguisher.
- Plastic bags.
- Battery powered flashlights.
- Tools and rubber hose.
- Necessary medications.
- Pre-moistened towels.
