It is not the typical love story of all manga
Even during periods of war there may be room for romance as My Hero Academia chapter 349 showed us in which we confirmed what they were. the true feelings between Himiko Toga, Ochako Uraraka and Izuku Midoriya, which we can summarize in one word: Love. On one side, we know we know that Toga has feelings towards the pair of heroes, so much is his love that “he wants to become them”, but is it reciprocated?
Prior to the assault on the League of Villains, Midoriya and Uraraka had talked about their feelings towards Himiko Toga. on top of the temporary defense tower, this pair of heroes mentioned that they feel concern and affection for the villain and even hope that she can reconsider her actions to be by her side. At the time, it was not made clear in My Hero Academia if this wish for Toga to join the side of the heroes was out of friendship or some kind of romance, but this was eventually resolved when Toga declared her feelings for her in the middle of combat.
The villain wanted Midoriya to become her boyfriend (for her, this meant becoming him), however she was promptly rejected by the hero., who seemed to disagree with that idea as well as Ochako Uraraka. Therefore, even though Toga had romantic feelings towards both characters, she was not reciprocated.
In fact, she knew that Uraraka had a special affection for Midoriya since the Paranormal Liberation War of My Hero Academia and still, he went ahead with his plan. After stealing an All Might keychain from Ochako, Himiko learns that the heroine appreciates the item because it was a Christmas present from Midoriya. The villainess, who already cared for Ochako, got too excited because they both liked Deku. From the way she called him, she now considered the two of them equal.
Despite this, it seems that the heroine has mixed feelings towards Toga, for although Toga’s words: “That makes us equal, right?” They generate animosity in him, because he does not like being compared to her, Uraraka confessed to Midoriya that he feels pity and affection for her.
My Hero Academia: Uraraka is in love with Midoriya and Toga?
Ochako not only refuses to accept how Himiko used her own Quirk as a token of love, but actively fights against the positive emotions of empathy and caring towards Himiko Toga.. Ochako’s perpetual rejection of Himiko becomes more apparent when Midoriya also agrees to have positive feelings for the villain in My Hero Academia.
Because of this, it is plausible that the mere thought of Midoriya having romantic feelings for Himiko Toga makes him jealous and prevents her from being able to openly show her feelings for him. Although, this may be an editorial decision by Kohei Horikoshi, author of My Hero Academia to keep his fans on the edge of their seat until the last chapter.. In this way, it keeps the mystery alive, while also being able to focus on the fighting in the final arc of the manga.
