With the final part of their story being released in theaters, many people are wondering what the future holds for the Guardians of the Galaxy in the growing MCU. We already know that James Gunn closed a cycle and it is very likely that he will not work with Marvel again, largely due to his commitment to DC, but that does not prevent some interpreters of the franchise from wanting to be part of a new adventure. However, there are also those who do not express much interest in returning soon.
NOTE: Below is SPOILERS of the movie.
The only person to confirm that he is attracted to the idea of reprising his character is Chris Pratt, who in an interview with rolling stones He mentioned that while he wasn’t sure what the franchise had in store for him, he still had what it took to continue being Star-Lord:
“Now if you’re saying me, Chris Pratt the actor, do I want to reprise my role as Peter Quill and do I have mileage left on the character and do I have the bandwidth or the headroom for that? I have it”.
The reality is that it is very likely that Quill will make a later appearance, because at the end of the second post-credits scene of the tape, a title is presented that reads: “The legendary Star-Lord will return.”
On the other hand, someone who has doubts about the return of her character is Karen Gillan, who through her Instagram account said the following:
“I don’t know if Nebula will return beyond this, it is possible that this is her final chapter. I have enjoyed this exploration more than any other character I have played. It’s been an incredible decade.”
In the movie, Nebula decides to stay and protect the planet Knowhere with Drax. Will we see her again one day?

Rocket, Groot, and Mantis also survived the events of this shutdown, but Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel haven’t spoken about the possibility of returning, so nothing’s certain.
Of course, Rocket took the position of leader of the new Guardians, replacing Quill, who is exploring life on Earth. And Groot accompanies his raccoon friend.
But Pom Klementieff is sure that she will not return if Gunn is not involved: This is how she assured The Hollywood Reporter:
“I can’t imagine playing Mantis with someone else writing her dialogue.”
Finally, the two people who confirmed that they do not plan to appear again in a movie of the franchise are Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista. Gamora’s interpreter said this to THR:
“I don’t think this is the end for the Guardians. It’s the end for me, for Gamora.”
Bautista, for his part, clarified to G.Q. that, although he loves bringing Drax to life, he prefers to explore another facet of his acting career:
“I am very grateful for Drax. I love him. but i’m relieved [de que haya terminado]. Not everything was nice. It was tough playing that role. The makeup process was wearing me down. And I don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy, it’s a goofy performance, and I want to do more dramatic things.”
How would you like to see the Guardians of the Galaxy in the future?
Jose Roberto Landaverde I love writing, listening, reading and commenting on everything related to cinema. I love music and am a fan of The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Paramore. My favorite movies are Rocky and Back to the Future and obviously one day I’ll climb the Philly Steps and drive a DeLorean. Faithful believer that cinema is the best teleportation machine, and also that on the big screen we can all see ourselves represented.
