BYD’s SUV: Tang EV
BYD’s Tang SUV also sports elongated headlights framing a chrome-accented front grille.
Tang EV measures 4.87 meters long, has three rows of seats and space for seven passengers. The third row of seats can be folded down to increase boot space to 940 litres. If the second row is also folded, the storage space increases to 1,655 liters.
It has a range of 505 kilometers and is capable of going from 0 to 100 kilometers in 4.4 seconds. Despite its size and weight -just over 3,000 kilos- it offers a light and stable ride thanks to the fact that the battery is distributed along the floor.
The interior space and the huge 15.4-inch screen are the two attributes that attract the most attention.
Batteries and security
BYD developed its own technology for 86.4 kW hour lithium iron phosphate batteries and also for their chargers.
With a traditional charger, these vehicles can go from 30% to 80% in eight hours. With a super charger, Han’s recharge can be done in 34 minutes and Tang’s can be done in 30 minutes.
Both models have about 40 Features security-related, including warnings, sensors, cameras, and light and sound signals. The model has, for example, all kinds of airbags: front (driver and front passenger), front side and rear side, as well as driver knee airbags.
They have seat belt reminder for the driver and front passenger, as well as for the rear row, blind spot detection (BSD), intelligent power brake system, traction control system (TCS), door open warning (DOW) , adaptive cruise system with start-stop function (ACC-S&G).
Models also feature Intelligent Navigation System (ICC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Front Cross Traffic Brake (FCTB), Signal System Emergency Braking System (EBSS), Lane Departure Warning System (LDW), Lane Centering Control (LCC) and Intelligent Speed Limit Control (ISLC).
For its arrival in the Mexican market, BYD has closed agreements with some distributors among which stands out Liverpool, plus other conventional dealer groups. Although it has not yet revealed the prices at which it will offer its vehicles, the brand has said that it sees Tesla as a direct competitor, so prices are expected to be similar to those handled by the American manufacturer.
