These are the powers of Shriek, the villain of the Marvel Universe who will hit the big screen with Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
On Venom: Let There Be Carnage, second film focused on the story of the reporter Eddie brock and his alien symbiote Venom, comic book fans will be able to witness the first appearance on the big screen of one of the greatest enemies of Spider-man: Carnage. However, the dangerous crimson monster is not the only interesting character that will arrive at the cinema with this film, as it will too Shriek, who will accompany with his powers the protagonists of this new installment of the Marvel Universe from Sony Pictures.
Who is Shriek, the villain of Venom: Let There Be Carnage?
Known in Spanish as Scream, Shriek debuted at No. 1 on Spider-man unlimited, published in 1993. However, its story was not fully defined until the comic Maximun carnage, where he recounted his difficult childhood surrounded by his mother’s abuse, his time on drugs and the reason for his stay at the Ravencroft Mental Institute, where he met Cletus Kasady, the bearer of the evil Carnage.
After escaping from the mental center, Shriek – whose real name is Frances Louise Barrison– and his new partner formed a team with other dangerous criminals: Demogoblin, Carrion and Doppelganger. Like a family, with Carnage and Barrison serving as parents, the team of villains unleashes a catastrophe in New York that only Spider-Man, Venom, Morbius and the Black cat they can stop.

Although the details of her appearance in Venom: Let There Be Carnage are being kept under wraps, it is believed that Frances (played by the actress Naomie harris) and his alter ego will face Venom (Tom hardy) after Carnage (Woody harrelson) executes a hard attack on the Ravencroft Hospital to rescue her from the room that inhibits her powers.
While it is not yet clear if the relationship between Shriek and Carnage will play out the same as in the comics, it is certain that the two will team up to put the protagonist’s world on the headband. “Shriek and Cletus alone are like half of them, but when they are together they are a higher version of themselves, more powerful,” Harris said in a recent interview.
What are the powers of Shriek, the new Marvel villain in the cinema?
In a universe where his characters’ powers come from spider bites, genetic experiments, and alien parasites, it may be a bit curious that Shriek’s abilities originate from an accident. In the comics, Frances Louise Barrison is a drug dealer because of her family problems before crossing paths with Carnage.

One night, during a confrontation with the police, the criminal is shot in the head, exposing the dimension of Cloak’s dark force. During her recovery, Barrison is diagnosed with dementia and locked up in Ravencroft, where she discovers that she has sonic powers.
With them, the supervillain can handle sound energies and cause explosions with bursts of sound. Also, according to the comics, Shriek can manipulate the emotions of their opponents playing on your fears and increasing the chaos. Which makes her a danger to society and to a character as unstable to sound as Venom. Could it be that the black symbiote is in danger on more than one front? We will know when the movie directed by Andy Serkis hits theaters on October 6.
