The end of the world or of humanity is a mystery that has led great minds to seek answers. Theologian and physicist Isaac Newton It could not be the exception and it left a prediction, that if it were accurate as the theory of gravity we would be in serious trouble.
In 1704, the English alchemist wrote a letter along with mathematical calculations where he risks pointing out when the apocalypse will occur. Under his extremely religious belief, the inventor noted that the end will be 1260 years after the founding of the Holy Roman Empire.
“It may end later, but I don’t see any reason why it should end sooner,” Newton wrote in the early 18th century about his doomsday calculations.
To draw his conclusion, Newton evaluated biblical verses from the Book of Daniel and Revelation. It is that the prodigy pointed out that religious texts hid important wisdom for humanity.
“Newton was convinced that Christ would return around that date and establish a global kingdom of peace.” wrote in 2003 Stephen D. Snobelen, now Professor of the History of Science and Technology at King’s College Halifax.
In other words, Isaac Newton estimates that in 2060 humanity will see its creator and a process will occur where the just are saved from being condemned. Although this type of forecast ends up failing, there is no doubt that humans can see the outcome of it if they do not change their consumption economy.
