CUPRA has confirmed a new self-developed model for 2024. A new electrified SUV with plug-in hybrid technology that will be released at the end of next year, and of which we present a first preview, a recreation and the details of what the Spanish brand is cooking in their kitchens.
2024 will be one of the most important years for the Spanish sports brand. Until then, practically no news will come to CUPRA, which is immersed in the development of new electrified models with different technologies. The Spanish has an agenda full of news ahead of it, with the Tavascan that will arrive before the middle of the decade, but also an SUV equipped with a plug-in hybrid system that they have confirmed.
An official confirmation that was accompanied last March with the new model hidden under a sheet. A first look that points to contained proportions, and of which today we can give you the first brushstrokes and a preview of its design. A render that advances a more modern design with a twist to the currently prevailing style and that is closer to the aesthetic avant-garde that the Tavascan will introduce. The future model has been postulated as a bet for the D segmentin which the brand does not have a clear representative, and neither does SEAT.
CUPRA’s future sports SUV, the most suggestive alternative to the Formentor
Positioned a step above the Formentor, with little more than 4.5 meters in the length dimension, and standing out for a more sporty shape. The sloped windshield forces a roofline that will taper off more at the back, creating a silhouette with a strong coupé air and a floating-style roof. A more suggestive and more attractive option, if possible, than the Formentor, to attract the most demanding customers it is the formula that the stylists of the sports brand will look for.
What we also know is that it will be the first model of the Spanish brand that will also change the interior design. CUPRA will distinguish itself much more from SEAT products by betting on a more premium driving position, in which digitization and connectivity will be authentic flags, together with comfort technology and driving assistants. For now, we do not know the commercial name under which this future model is hidden, but the brand has confirmed some details of the mechanical plan.
Based on the revised MQB EVO platform, will be manufactured in Hungary on the same production lines as the Audi Q3 and Q3 Sportback, only betting on electrified technologies. Combustion versions will be limited to 48 Volt MHEV petrol blocks and no possibility of dieselwhile the most efficient will be plug-in hybridswith different power levels and with a battery that will offer high autonomy in electric mode, which will not go below 100 kilometers. The Spanish will offer a preview in the coming weeks, while the production model will be revealed in a year and a half, at the end of 2023 to go on sale in 2024.
