In the past week Sony Pictures Entertainment pushed back the release date for the movie by Morbius, the anti-hero vampire who will be played by Jared Leto, and since then fans have not stopped asking for a cameo from Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. Fortunately the Morbius trailers already planted the seeds for a possible cameo, as some Easter eggs would connect with Garfield’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Almost a month ago it was released Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters and met the high expectations of fans, who wanted to see the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. However, fans were left wanting more, and have long been campaigning for Sony to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3, starring Andrew Garfield.

Spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home! By now everyone knows of the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, but if you have not had the opportunity to see the film I warn you that I am going to describe very specific scenes and dialogues, so if you want to avoid more spoilers I recommend to stop reading here. The trailers of Morbius and some images from the production had given us clues to the return of Andrew Garfield, which would have been confirmed in No Way Home.
The first time the three Peters meet in Spider-Man: No Way Home is after Aunt May’s death, when Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield try to console Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. In this scene, Garfield talks about how he lost Gwen Stacy and became more bitter because of it, saying that “At some point, I stopped taking my blows“Admitting that he became more violent and brutal. A Morbius graffiti shows Spider-Man with the words “ASSASSIN“, which it’s could be related to this dark period of Peter. However, the strange thing is that the graffiti suit is Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

One of the advertisements of the newspaper El Clarín (or The Daily Bugle) from a production bus shows the phrase “Where is Spider-Man?”, Which could refer to the Spider-Man’s grief period after Gwen Stacy’s death. Recall that it takes a while before Spider-Man returns to confront Rhino, right at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield claims to have defeated Rhino, but this would not be the last time they face each other.
One of the newspapers that we see in the Morbius trailer makes a mention of Rhino, saying that the villain is on the loose, in addition to mentioning the thief. Black cat, one of the lovers of Spider-Man. The mention of Black Cat raises the question “Friend or foe?“, Which implies that Felicia hardy does not have much active time. Recall that this role was played by Felicity Jones in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, although we did not get to see her in the suit. At the climax of Spider-Man: No Way Home we got to see the silhouettes of Rhino and Black Cat, so Sony Pictures might be planning something with these characters.
What’s more: Concept art of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man featuring the Venom symbiote.
Finally, one of the strongest clues is the presence of a building of Oscorp in the first Morbius trailer, as the company’s logo design matches that of The Amazing Spider-Man. In Spider-Man: No Way Home the green goblin confirmed that Oscorp does not exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we can rule out that Morbius is in this universe or in Sam Raimi’s.
All these clues point to the return of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, in addition to the fact that in No Way Home his character says he wants to fight an alien, which could refer to Venom. On other occasions Tom Hardy said that the MCU and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe can co-exist, which gives us hope of seeing him take on Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man as Tom Holland’s develops his own history with the symbiote. .
Meanwhile, some trusted leakers like MyTimeToShineHello They assure that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as Spider-Man in other productions, so everything indicates that the dreams of the fans are going to be fulfilled.
