The expectations of many companies and brands keep coming when registering and in the middle of the year. This Thursday Six Flags revealed that it lost nearly two million customers over the past year, a drop that was due in part to an initiative to weed out “troublesome teens,” according to its CEO.
In its latest report, shared this Thursday, the Arlington, Texas-based theme park detailed that its shares fell 18 percent to $21.12, after it was revealed that attendance at its 27 parks was down 22 percent from a year earlier to 6.7 million in the quarter ended July 3.

Six Flags and its figures 2022
Six Flags revealed on Thursday that it lost nearly 2 million customers over the past year, a drop that was due in part to an initiative to weed out “troublemaker teens,” according to the company’s chief executive.
In its information, the company explained that the drop was due in part to the fact that it has been steadily increasing ticket prices after offering too many discounts this year, Chief Executive Selim Bassoul told analysts on an earnings call on Thursday.
“So we just got the outlet store or became a teen daycare. It was a cheap daycare for teenagers during breaks and summers,” Bassoul said.
In response, Six Flags has been raising prices to reduce the number of “troublesome teenagers running around,” he added.
The company noted that the rampage has occasionally turned violent, where last month a teenager was arrested for aggravated assault on a police officer at Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey, when he pushed a police officer who had been called to the park due to reports of a fight.
Meanwhile, last year at Six Flags in Prince George’s County, Maryland, several fights broke out in the parking lot during Fright Fest. Videos posted on social media showed young women viciously attacking, stomping on car roofs and people breaking windows, according to CBS Baltimore.
“We realized we had discounted too much and were filling the park” with the wrong kind of customers, said Bassoul, who became chief executive in November after serving on the board since 2020.
“We want to be a park for the middle class and even for the lower middle class,” he added.
Six Flags is not the only company in this branch that has increased its ticket prices for problematic divers, Sea World in Orlando, Florida, it charges $116 per ticket, according to its website, while a ticket to Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey costs about $45, according to the Six Flags website.
Recently, a post on TikTok revealed the rise of the Disney World and Disneyland theme parks, which has increased by more than 3,871 percent in the last fifty years.
In this sense, inflation and the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, the war between Ukraine and Russia, and supply problems are causing many industries to adapt in the best way to survive in the face of this global event.
