With four years in tow, the saloon of access to the range of products of the Swedish brand, and the first of the firm that is produced in the United States, faces a discreet facelift. The new Volvo S60 2022 launches a package of novelties that very slightly affect the exterior and interior, also adding a revision to the range of engines.
The third generation of Volvo S60 It was released four years ago, betting on a more elegant appearance and leaving aside much of the sportiness that it offered in previous generations. A transformation that raised the cache putting a lot of land in between with its most direct rivals. Now, those from Gothenburg have decided to implement a series of changes so discreet that it will take longer than necessary to notice them.
And it is that on the outside practically nothing changes in the S60 2022, except for the front and rear bumpers. The front only has a review of the end air intakes, incorporating a new grille painted in gloss black that provides a sportier style. At the opposite extreme, the change is just as simple, with a completely smooth defense although the biggest novelty in this area is that lose exhaust trims. A part that has been replaced by un decorative insert that can be in glossy black, depending on the finishin body color or in chrome.
The Volvo S60 2022 gasoline is now more efficient
This will depend on the level of equipment chosen, available in the “Core”, “Plus” and “Ultimate”, which can be complemented with the “Bright” and “Dark”. The first will offer a more distinctive image with chrome elements and a shiny finish, while the second will bet on sportiness, and will replace these parts with a black finish or with a certain darkened air. Volvo has not touched the interior either, beyond incorporating the infotainment system with “Android Auto” operating systemand that brings with it connectivity applications such as “Google Maps”, “Google Assistant” and “Google Play”.
The rest remains intact in a model that is the only sedan of the brand that is still offered with traditional combustion engines, although with 48-volt MHEV technology, in addition to the Recharge plug-in hybrids. According to markets, the combustion offer includes two options, B3 and B4a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that offers maximum powers of 163 and 197 hprespectively.
Both are offered only with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissionwhich replaces the previously used transmission eight-speed automatic. An important improvement that, together with a new optimization of the combustion system, has made it possible to further reduce CO2 emissions. It may seem that 14 and 10 g / km, respectively, is a small reduction, but it is enough for the Volvo S60 2022 to contribute to improving the average figures of the entire range. The ones that the Swedes have not touched have been the PHEVs, so the two available combinations, the Recharge T6 and Recharge T8 with 350 and 455 hp maintain their performanceand associated with the sportier finish that bears the seal Polestar Engineered. The new prices will be communicated in the coming weeks.
