The number of electric vehicles, not only of the Volkswagen brand, that make use of the MEB platform is growing rapidly.
The improvements that Volkswagen will make to the MEB platform
The next electric cars of the Volkswagen Group will offer superior performance thanks to the changes that will be made in the MEB platform. The company has confirmed its intention to introduce a whole series of improvements that will allow it to carry out an evolution of the currently used platform. An evolution that, from the point of view of the final consumer, will result in electric vehicles with more autonomy, reduced charging times and superior performance.
The information published by the Volkswagen Group shows that the improvements that will be applied to the MEB platform will allow the next electric vehicles to reach autonomy of up to 700 kilometers. Charge powers of over 200 kW are also highlighted, which will considerably reduce the waiting time to recharge the battery. And last but not least, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5.5 seconds for all-wheel drive vehicles.
The company hasn’t gone into detail about when we’ll start seeing these improvements. However, it is very unlikely that models that we can already find on the market, such as the Volkswagen ID.4 or the CUPRA Born, will benefit. We will have to wait for its future renovations or directly for the entry into the scene of a totally new model.
