Although after the sequel trilogy it seemed like this property was ready to rest for a couple of years, the success of The Mandalorian changed Lucasfilm’s plans. Although there are still several films in development, Disney’s focus is on creating series of all kinds. Thus, here we tell you all the series, movies and video games that are currently in development, and when they will be available.
Series:
-Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi TV Series (May 27, 2022)
The long-awaited series is now available on Disney +. Here we are once again introduced to Obi-Wan after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Ewan McGregor reprises the role of this Jedi, and Hayden Christensen will appear as Darth Vader.
-Star Wars: Andor TV Series (August 32, 2022)
Diego Luna takes on the role of Cassian Andor once again. This series is set before Rogue One, and will give us a look at how the rebellion came to be.
-Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Season 2 (2022)
At the moment there are not many details, but the second season of this animated series will once again follow a group of clones who have to face a galaxy after Order 66.
-The Mandalorian: Season 3 (February 2023)
After the events of The Book of Boba Fett, Din Djarin and Grogu will have to travel to Mandalore to redeem themselves for their sins. Here we will once again see Bo-Katon and other characters.
-Star Wars: Ahsoka (2023)
This series takes place during the chronology of The Mandalorian, and will present us with live action versions of characters like Ezra, and could well introduce Grand Admiral Thrawn as the great villain of this new era.
-Star Wars Skeleton Crew, previously known as “Grammar Rodeo”, (2023)
Jude Law stars in a series focused on a group of children who are lost in the galaxy. At the moment there are no more details, but it sounds quite interesting.
-Star Wars: The Acolyte (TBD)
Moving away from the story of The Mandalorian, The Acolyte will take us back to the time of the High Republic, where several classic elements will finally become canon in today’s Star Wars.
-Tales of the Jedi (In development)
This is an animated anthology, which will be responsible for expanding various elements of the world of Star Wars. At the moment there are no more official details.
-Star Wars: Lando (In development)
As the name implies, a series about Lando is in development. It is currently unknown if these events will take place before or after his appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
-Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic (possibly cancelled)
This series introduces us to the formation of the New Republic. However, the firing of Gina Carano could well cancel this project, since she was supposed to star in this show.
Films:
-Taika Waititi’s Star Wars (In development)
The director of movies like Thor: Love and Thunder is working on his own take on the Star Wars universe.
-Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (In development)
Paty Jenkis is in charge of this highly anticipated film. However, her commitment to Wonder Woman 3 has delayed this production. Similarly, this movie is not an adaptation of the games of the same name.
-Star Wars by Kevin Feige (No information)
The famed Marvel Studios boss is taking a break from heroes to create a new vision for Star Wars.
-Star Wars by JD Dillard and Matt Owens (No lineup)
This pair of directors are in charge of a new Star Wars project, about which there is no information about it.
-Star Wars: Rian Johnson Trilogy (No information)
The director of The Last Jedi will return to Star Wars, and will do so with a trilogy, of which there is no information about it. Johnson is currently working on other projects before starting these films.
Video game:
-Star Wars: Hunters (2022)
Zynga and NaturalMotion are in charge of this Nintendo Switch exclusive, which will give us the opportunity to participate in different missions with bounty hunters.
-Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake (In development)
Aspyr is in charge of reimagining BioWare’s fantastic game, which, at least for now, is a PS5 exclusive.
-Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 (In development)
Respawn Entertainment is expected to officially announce the sequel to the critically acclaimed title starring Cal Kestis sometime in the summer of this year.
-Star Wars FPS (No information)
Not content with just one game, Respawn Entertainment is also working on a Star Wars FPS, which will have Peter Hirschmann, of Medal of Honor series fame, as director.
-Star Wars strategy game (No information)
Bit Reactor, a studio created by ex-XCOM developers, will be in charge of creating a new Star Wars strategy game, with the help of Respawn.
-Star Wars by Ubisoft Massive (No information)
The Ubisoft studio in charge of The Division and the Avatar game in development will also be in charge of creating an open world of Star Wars.
-Star Wars Eclipse (No information)
Quantic Dream, responsible for Heavy Rain and Detroit: Became Human, are in charge of this narrative project, which will break studio conventions.
-Star Wars by Skydance New Media (No information)
Amy Henninh returns to the world of Star Wars, and hopefully this time the project will not be canceled.
