In a new alliance to promote professionalization in health regulation, the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris), and the Faculties of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), of Acatlán Higher Studies (FES Acatlán), and Aragón Higher Studies (FES Aragón), promote the call for the Specialization in Health Law program.
Importance of Health Law
For all aspects of health, there are binding rules governing the rights and responsibilities of governments. As well as health workers, companies, civil society and the population of a country. Together, these rules make up the legal framework or legal architecture for healthcare. They take many forms, including: statutory laws, regulatory and administrative laws, contracts, jurisprudence, and customary laws.
Health laws are used to formalize commitment to goals, such as the goal of universal health coverage, creating momentum for action. To enable cooperation and achieve health goals, people use the law to create different organizations (such as hospitals). In addition to relationships (such as contracts to provide health services). In turn, the organizations (whether they are ministries of health, private sector or civil society). They have mandates, policies and strategies based on legal norms that guide their work.
There are also many rules that structure what health organizations and individuals must do and what they cannot do. This interaction between different health laws results in the functions of the health system being carried out and health products and services being delivered.
