Actress Uma Thurman recently spoke about her experience during the filming of the movie Batman & Robin, to which she says she had a fantastic experience making the movie, since during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress recalled her work with the director Joel Schumacher.
“I was talking about Joel Schumacher, the director who is a friend that I love so much… I loved Joel Schumacher”he recalled, to the director who passed away in 2020, and who at the moment has led many of the fans to reconsider their work with the franchise of DC ComicsAs with The Batman only a few months in the rearview mirror, there’s still a lot of fervor surrounding The Dark Knight.
What does seem to have been a big problem for Thurman As much as for the rest of the cast, it was the costumes, as by nature the material of the Batsuits and other outfits remains a topic of conversation to this day.
“That was a fantastic experience. I had to wear a lot of rubber suits.”he remembered. “I didn’t have a rubber mask. I had my own face. But sometimes I had some rubber braces on my face. That was the most rubber I’ve ever worked with, personally.”
On this, the costume designer of batmanforever, Jose Fernandezspoke during an interview recently, about how they came to establish these rubber looks for the heroes, that while they are ridiculed on social media, there is a certain charm to the look of those films, which became iconic.
“With the Val Kilmer suit in Batman Forever, the nipples were one of those things that I added”Fernandez explained.. “It wasn’t a fetish for me, it was based more on Roman armor, like centurions. And, in the comics, the characters always seemed to be spray-painted naked; it was about anatomy, and I like to push anatomy. I don’t know exactly where my head was at the time, but that’s what I remember. So, I added the nipples. I had no idea it would end up being all this hype about it.”
