This week Ubisoft confirmed that it’s going to show what it’s planning for the future of the Assassin’s Creed series in September, but rumors have been swirling about what’s going on internally at the company. One of these rumors ensures that Assassin’s Creed: Rift has been delayed until spring 2023.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla arrived in late 2020 and since then Ubisoft has released a couple of expansions as DLC, but the last one was canceled and became a full game with Assassin’s Creed: Rift. AC: Rift was expected to arrive in early 2023, but it seems that it was delayed until spring.

Assassin’s Creed: Rift is a game starring Basim, one of the characters from Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and Ubisoft’s plan is for this game to fill the void of releases in the series in what we expect for Assassin’s Creed: Infinity, the platform on which Ubisoft wants to build the future of the series.
Assassin’s Creed: Rift has yet to be officially announced but Ubisoft is expected to show it off during its Ubisoft Forward, which is scheduled for September 10. The reports that have emerged so far have come from Bloomberg, because in February they reported that Ubisoft was developing this game as a smaller-scale experience than the previous ones.
This week it was also reported that Ubisoft had canceled at least four games that were in development, some of which had not yet been officially announced, such as Splinter Cell VR. Ghost Recon: Frontline was going to bring the series to the battle royale genre but was also canceled by Ubisoft after its poor reception.
